Monterrey has been one of the best teams in the Liga MX this Clausura currently in third place with 19 points. The ‘rayados’ are coming off a tough midweek loss to Chivas of Guadalajara in the semifinals of the Copa MX. Before that loss, the ‘regios’ also fell to Club America 1-0 at the Estadio Azteca in week 12 of the Liga MX Clausura 2017. The Argentine striker will be a player to watch in this match, along with the rest of Antonio Mohamed’s offense which has scored 17 goals in the Liga MX. Monterrey will be looking to get back on track and get a win against a team the ‘rayados’ should be beating.
Chiapas is currently in 12th place with 13 points, only three points out of a playoff spot. Not making the playoffs is the least of Sergio Bueno’s worries, the ‘jaguares’ still fighting relegation this season. Chiapas is only three points ahead of Veracruz who is in last place in the relegation table, and at least a point is necessary from this game. Trends indicate that the felines can defeat Monterrey, having beat other top teams in the league like America, Guadalajara, Tigres UANL and Toluca. Chiapas has given some exciting performances this tournament and this game should be no different.
