In week 13 of the Liga MX Clausura 2017, Chivas of Guadalajara will host Puebla at the Estadio Chivas this Saturday, April 8, 2017 (7:06 PM Pacific). Chivas is among the top teams this Clausura, while Puebla is still in the contested relegation battle this season.
Chivas of Guadalajara is having a fantastic tournament, currently in second place with 21 points. The ‘rebano sagrado’ has had some big victories but has also suffered some disappointing results through the year. Recently Guadalajara tied 0-0 to Monarcas Morelia in a game the ‘rojiblancos’ should have easily won.
Another notable negative result was a 4-3 loss to Chiapas, both results were against teams fighting relegation like Puebla. Chivas is a solid team, but the defense can be a liability at times, Rodolfo Cota needing to come up huge with 36 saves this tournament. The ‘tapatios’ should be able to win this game, but Jose Cardozo and Puebla will not go down without a fight.
Puebla is in 16th place with only 10 points and is fighting relegation, seven points ahead of Veracruz who is last on the relegation table. The ‘camoteros’ have pulled off some shocking results this tournament like 0-0 draws to Club America and Pachuca. As well as a huge 3-1 away win against Toluca at the Estadio Nemesio Diez.
The defense for Puebla can be a liability but can also prove to be rigid under Jose Cardozo with the goalkeeper, Cristian Campestrini being among the top keepers in the league with 45 saves. ‘La Franja’ should be able to provide a hard-fought game against Chivas, but it will be difficult to get a favorable result, especially away from home.
