In the second leg of the CONCACAF Champions League, Pachuca will host FC Dallas at the Estadio Hidalgo this Tuesday, April 4, 2017 (7:00 PM Pacific). Dallas has the upper-hand going into the match having won the game 2-1 but will face a stronger side away from home.
Pachuca has been doing well in the Liga MX Clausura 2017, currently in fifth place with 18 points. The latest result for the team from Hidalgo was a scoreless draw to Puebla at home. The ‘tuzos’ have been a force at the Estadio Hidalgo this year, undefeated in seven games at home in 2017. Pachuca has four wins and three draws in all competitions this year at home, this includes a stellar 4-0 win over Saprissa in the quarterfinals of the Concachampions.
Argentine striker, Franco Jara was the lone goal-scorer for Pachuca in the first-leg defeat to FC Dallas and should be an interesting player to watch in this game. Jara is Pachuca’s top scorer in 2017 with six goals in all competitions, including two in the knockout stages of the CONCACAF Champions League. Pachuca should be able to go through to the final, only needing to win by a one-goal margin in this match to advance.
FC Dallas is undefeated in three games in the MLS, with two wins and a draw, currently in third place in the Western Conference. The Texas side has also done well in the CONCACAF Champions League having beaten Panamanian side, Arabe Unido by an aggregate score of 5-2 in the quarterfinals of the tournament.
The 21-year-old, Kellyn Acosta has been the most exciting player for Dallas recently, scoring two goals past Arabe Unido and a goal against Pachuca in the first leg of this semi-final fixture. Dallas is a solid team, but Pachuca does have a much stronger side and the home-field advantage can prove to be the deciding factor in the match. The clash between the Liga MX side and the MLS side should be an interesting one with both teams wanting to advance to the final of the competition.
