Former West Ham and Celtic forward Carlton Cole has signed with Indonesian side Persib Bandung and will be team-mates with former Chelsea star Michael Essien.
The 33-year-old who has several caps for the England national team, joins the Indonesian outfit on a ten month deal. The forward however is best remembered for his time with West Ham, where he notched 68 goals from 293 appearances and helped the club win promotion to the Premier League during the 2011/12 season which they spent in the Championship.
Essien and Cole will be familiar with each other having played together at Chelsea during the 2005/6 season. While speaking about the move, Cole said, “It’s incredible. The jersey reminds me of when joining Chelsea at the beginning of my football career.”
Persib Bandung were the last side to have won the Liga 1 title in 2014, with the past two seasons not being held due to a FIFA suspension.
