TalkSport pundit Jason Cundy has hit out at West Ham’s treatment of manager Slaven Bilic.
The Hammers have been in unconvincing form this season and have lost their last three consecutive matches. As a result, speculation has emerged over recent days that the club will appoint a new manager during the summer.
The club’s co-owner David Sullivan even took to Twitter to apologize to fans of the club after their defeat to Leicester City
However, Cundy does not blame the Croatian manager for the clubs current situation and said, “They’ve moved to a new stadium, boasted about how cheap the season tickets were and David Gold, and this is a direct quote, said ‘there’s no reason we can’t be in the Champions League in the next five years’.
“Their net spend, last two transfer windows, was £25m. They’ve moved, they’re boasting, but none of it makes sense. It all seems cheap and tacky. It’s like, really? Is that how you’re going about it?
“Slaven Bilic should seriously consider his position as that football club before any decision is made by someone else about his job. He’s been let down badly by the club. He’s been let down badly by the board.
“I know they’ve had injuries and I accept that and there’s been one or two crucial players they’ve missed. The situation with Dimitri Payet wasn’t helpful for anyone and I think Bilic dealt with it as well as he could.
“They moved into a new stadium and the teething problems they’ve had have impacted their season. How much, we don’t quite know.”
The East London club are currently 12th on the League standings and nine points clear of the relegation zone. Should they suffer more defeats, relegation worries may become a reality.
