Former Liverpool star Stan Collymore has claimed that Everton could replace Liverpool as Merseyside’s biggest football club in the coming years if they get their recruitment right.
The Toffees have made significant progress since the arrival of Ronald Koeman as manager. The presence of Koeman has brought out the best in Romelu Lukaku and the Dutchman has unearthed bright young talents such as Ademola Lookman and Tom Davies.
The Merseyside derby takes place this Saturday in what promises to be a thrilling encounter speaking ahead of the game to the Daily Mirror, Collymore said, “It is a huge game… and if Everton beat Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday, it will be even bigger than that because it represents a major step forward for the club and boss Ronald Koeman as they look to close the gap to their neighbours.
“And if Everton get their recruitment right over the next two or three windows, and if they get their new stadium right, then they have a chance of overtaking Liverpool as the biggest club in the city”
