Former Aston Villa midfielder Lee Hendrie has told The Daily Record that Scott Sinclair had to leave Villa Park in order to play his best football.
Sinclair joined Celtic from Villa during the summer of 2016 in a deal believed to be in the region of £3 million. The England international has been in stellar form this season for the Scottish giants, scoring 15 goals from 26 Scottish Premiership matches thus far.
Hendrie explained why that the move was necessary for the former Manchester City and Chelsea man, saying, “I watched Scott a lot at Aston Villa and he just needed to get away.
“Villa were on a downward spiral and the fans got on his back a little bit. After being heralded as a bright talent as a young player, Sinclair failed to live up to the expectations of many.”
