Trinidad & Tobago is coming from a huge 1-0 victory against Panama and will be looking for another upset in this match. The islanders are currently in fifth place in this qualifying stage, with three points, only a point back of Panama in third place. Before that surprising victory, the Caribbean side lost 3-1 to Honduras and, 2-0 to Costa Rica. T & T should not be able to get a victory or even a draw in this match, even with the home-field advantage.
Mexico beat arguably the toughest opponent it will face in this hexagonal stage, defeating Costa Rica 2-0 at home. The CONCACAF giants are currently excelling in this hexagonal stage in first place with seven points and should have no problem getting the three points from this match.
It will be interesting to see what players Juan Carlos Osorio does decide to use for the encounter. Jonathan Dos Santos and Carlos Vela were among the standout players from the game against Costa Rica. Dos Santos controlling the midfield both defensively and with perfect distribution.
Vela was easily the most creative player on the pitch finding the spaces to generate attacking options. It is unclear whether either of them will start in this match with Osorio being a firm believer in rotating the players. We could see Raul Jimenez or Jesus Corona get the opportunity in this match up top for ‘el tri’. It should be intriguing to see what lineup Osorio presents and how Mexico can do away from home in a tough venue.
