Leeds United are set to battle Spanish club Valencia for the signature of young Swedish star Linus Wahlqvist, according to Voetbal Belgie.
The 20 year old was expected to arrive at Elland Road during the January transfer window to link up with countryman Pontus Jansson, however a deal failed to materialize.
The Whites are favorites to sign the youngster, who has spoken favorably of a move to the Championship, however they could face stiff competition from Valencia as the Spanish side reportedly sent scouts to watch him playing for Sweden under-21’s against Serbia under 21’s.
Should Leeds win promotion to the Premier League, it will certainly be very likely that the Whites will manage to sign the youngster, especially given that Valencia have encountered numerous problems over recent years.
If a deal is successfully pulled off, it may also be a first significant achievement of Andrea Radrizzani who will be aiming to help the club make more significant signings.
