Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce wants to complete deal with Manchester United

Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce has seen his side go on quite the winning run of late, and that has happened to coincide with a good run of form from goalkeeper Sam Johnstone, who is currently on loan from Manchester United for the remainder of the season.

Johnstone, 24 years of age, made a slow start to life at Villa Park, but he has found his feet now at the Birmingham club. And Bruce wants to see if he can keep him, according to Express and Star.

Bruce said that “I will be having a conversation with Mr Mourinho when the time is right,” before adding that “everyone agrees that Sam needed to go and play football.”

Bruce is right here, and it looks like he and Villa should have a great chance at signing him. He certainly doesn’t look to have much of a future at Old Trafford given his age, but he could still yet be a top division goalkeeper if Villa can gain promotion next season.

With David De Gea still the #1 at United and any deal for him leaving surely meaning a brand new big name keeper will come in, Johnstone just can’t be favored to have much of a chance at first team football in the theater of dreams. This seems like a good move for all involved.
