In the UEFA 2018 World Cup qualifiers, Montenegro will host Poland at the Stadion Pod Goricom this Sunday, March 26, 2017 (11:45 AM Pacific). The two teams are the top two in Group E of the competition which should make for an enticing duel.
Montenegro is currently in second place in Group E of this qualifying stage with seven points. The Brave Falcons are just three points back of Poland in first, but just two points ahead of Romania in fourth place. Group E has proven to be a contested group with Poland, Montenegro, Denmark and Romania being the top four teams still in the running for a World Cup spot.
The Balkan side defeated Denmark and Kazakhstan then tied against Romania to get to the seven points they have now. Ljubiša Tumbaković will count with some very talented players including Stefan Savic from Atletico Madrid and Stevan Jovetic of Sevilla. The home-field advantage can prove to be an important factor in this game for The Brave Falcons, and it will be interesting to see if they can take advantage of it.
Poland is topping Group E with 10 points, undefeated with Three wins and a draw. The Eagles defeated Armenia, Denmark and Romania and tied against Kazakhstan to get to the 10 points. Adam Nawałka, of course, counts with one of the most clinical finishers in the world in Robert Lewandowski to carry his side. The Bayern Munich star, is off to an incredible campaign, having seven goals in the competition, which is incredible considering Poland has scored 10 total goals in this qualifying stage.
Lewandowski does count with good support with the Napoli duo of Piotr Zielinski and Arkadiusz Milik. Other standout players from this Polish side include Lukasz Piszczek, Jakub Blaszczykowski and Kamil Glik. Poland is a very strong team led by one of the best players in the world and should give a great showing in this match.
