Club America will play Monarcas Morelia in a friendly match during the International break at the Avaya Stadium in San Jose, California this Sunday, March 26, 2017 (4:25 PM Pacific). Both teams are contending for a playoff spot in this Clausura with their own sets of problems accompanying them.
Club America is currently in ninth place in the tournament with 14 points, just out of a playoff spot due to goal differential. The ‘aguilas’ are coming into this game in great form having beat rivals, Pumas UNAM 3-2 away from home. Oribe Peralta, Cecilio Dominguez and Silvio Romero providing the goals for the ‘azulcremas’. The ‘capitalinos’ also have their share of problems, under-performing massively to what the expectations normally are for the very demanding fan base.
This game could potentially serve as a way for Ricardo La Volpe to give more playing time to the younger players on the roster like Edson Alvarez, Diego Lainez and Gerson Torres. La Volpe will be missing four players for this match due to international callups in Oribe Peralta, Bruno Valdez, Miguel Samudio and Cecilio Dominguez.
