Liverpool have failed on the defensive end of the pitch for years now with mostly older players, but that could be set to change as the Reds are said to be eyeing up another prospect at the back from PSG.
With the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joe Gomez already in the side, France Football reports that 17 year old Mahamadou Dembele could be next to join up with the Anfield club. With his contract set to run out this summer, it’s said that Liverpool and Arsenal are amongst those looking for the French U-18 international’s signature.
On the face of it, this looks like it would be a pretty sweet deal for Liverpool. Since his contract is running out, Liverpool would only have to pay his wages. And any deal now would surely be cheaper than it would be later.
However, there seems to be stiff competition, and the Reds don’t have a great track record in the slightest with French players. Arsene Wenger does, though, so this might be where the young man eventually ends up. Whether he’ll be a star or not is going to take a lot of time to see, so don’t expect him to be starting right away no matter where he ends up.
