In the CONCACAF 2018 World Cup qualifiers, Mexico will host Costa Rica at the Estadio Azteca this Friday, March 24, 2017 (5:50 PM Pacific). The match is set to be one of the best this weekend with two of the best teams from the CONCACAF region facing off.

Mexico has done well so far in the Hexagonal stage of the competition, currently in second place with four points, two points back of Costa Rica in first place. The CONCACAF giants received those four points by defeating the US 2-1 away from home and drawing 0-0 to Honduras at the Estadio Azteca. Juan Carlos Osorio will count with a very strong side with 13 players who play in Europe most notably Javier Hernandez, Carlos Vela and Jonathan Dos Santos.

The rest of the team except for Giovani Dos Santos all play in the Liga MX some of the more interesting names being Oribe Peralta, Orbelin Pineda and Rafael Marquez. This is a game that Mexico should win especially at home, but this strong Costa Rica side may cause problems for the ‘tricolor’.

Costa Rica is the only team in the Hexagonal stage of the competition that has managed to win both games, securing six points. The ‘ticos’ beat Trinidad & Tobago to no surprise by a score of 2-0, but also pulled off a shocking 4-0 victory over the United States. Oscar Ramirez will also count with several players who militate in Europe with eight players from European leagues including Real Madrid’s, Keylor Navas.

The ‘galacticos’ goalkeeper may prove to be a huge factor in the match, as he can be a difference maker especially against a Mexico side which struggles to be clinical at times. Other interesting players on Costa Rica’s roster include Sporting Lisboa’s, Brayan Ruiz and Joel Campbell. The ‘ticos’ should be able to give a good fight in Mexico City, even if Mexico is the favorite going into the game.
