Leeds boss Monk explains how he helped Chris Wood become a goal-machine

Leeds United manager Gary Monk has revealed how he helped forward Chris Wood achieve sensational form this season.

After bagging a brace during Leeds impressive 2-0 win against Championship title candidates Brighton and Hove Albion last weekend, the New Zealand international took his goal tally for the season to 27.

Monk revealed that increased aggression has helped the 25 year old to achieve prolific goal scoring form this season.

“When I came in I looked at him very closely, and I could see very clearly he had all the attributes to score goals and do well, especially in this league,” Monk told talkSPORT.

“A big thing was the mentality as well – Chris is a big, powerful lad and he’s got good technique but I think he needed to be more aggressive against defenders.”

The performances of Wood have been a key reason as to why Leeds are pushing for promotion to the Premier League.
