Report: Liverpool suffer major injury blow to star during international duty

Just three days and zero games have passed, yet Liverpool have already had a player pick up an injury on international duty. Midfielder Gini Wijnaldum, a player that has started to round into form recently, has apparently taken an injury to the head and had to cease training for the day.

The Dutchman was preparing for his side’s qualifier against Bulgaria and then the subsequent friendly match against Italy. The Dutch are in a tight four team battle in their group at the moment that includes them, their opponents, France, and Sweden, and they can ill afford to drop points.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp will also be sweating this news as Wijnaldum has become a very important player in recent weeks. After struggling for large stretches of the season, the midfielder has acclimated to his role as a box to box midfielder.

This would be a big blow if he is to miss time for either side here, but it’d be especially tough on the player himself as he was starting to assert himself in both teams.
