Slaven Bilic not happy with Reading manager Jaap Stam

West Ham manager Slaven Bilic has admitted that he has had regrets about sending talented youngster Reece Oxford to Reading on loan.

The 18-year-old has struggled to gain the game time that the Hammers had hoped would to aide his development at Reading and has only managed 17 minutes of action.

Reading boss Jaap Stam stated that Oxford’s lack of game time game came as a result of him not managing to cope with the intensity of the club’s training sessions.

Bilic did not share the same sentiment as Stam though and believed that the youngster’s lack of game time came as a result of him having an injury setback.

He said, “We are training very intensely here,” Bilic told Claret and Hugh, “I expected him to play more and there were other Championship clubs wanted him. I wish he had gone to one of them.”

Oxford has a deal with the Hammers which will run till the summer of 2021, as he signed an extension in December.
