In week 30 of the French Ligue 1, PSG will host Lyon at the Parc des Princes this Sunday, March 19, 2017 (1:00 PM Pacific). The match is set to be the best one in this week 30 of Ligue 1 play, with both teams among the top four in the league.
PSG is in what now seems like a two-horse title race, with Monaco in first place with 68 points and PSG in second with 65 points. The team from the French capital is coming from a 2-1 win over Lorient in week 29 of the competition. But before that game, of course, had a heart-breaking exit to their Champions League Campaign, losing to Barcelona 6-1. Edinson Cavani has provided most of the goals for PSG this season, getting 27 in the Ligue 1.
While the Uruguayan striker has provided the goals, he has not been the best player on the team with Lucas Moura being quite an underrated player and Adrien Rabiot being crucial in midfield as well. PSG has had the edge over Lyon in four encounters this season in all competitions, winning all four games. The latest result being a 2-1 win in the Ligue 1, with Edinson Cavani scoring both goals. The Parisians on paper should be able to win the Ligue 1 title and this game, a win here would be a huge step in the right direction.
The match will be a battle between the second and third best offenses in the Ligue 1 this season, Lyon having the second-best offense with 59 goals. In Lyon’s last 10 matches in all competitions, the offense has really picked up scoring 35 goals. 20-year-old defender, Mouctar Diakhaby has been an interesting player recently scoring a goal in three consecutive Europa League matches.
In the Ligue 1, Memphis Depay has been the standout player as of late, scoring four goals in the last three Ligue 1 games. Lyon is far from a Champions League spot for next season in fourth place with 50 points, 14 points back of Nice in third. For now, ‘les gones’ will look to keep their Europa League spot and go further in the current Europa League competition to try and earn Champions League football for next season. This match should have plenty of goals and be one of the most enticing match-ups in Europe this weekend.
