In week 11 of the Liga MX Clausura 2017, Queretaro will host Pachuca at the Estadio Corregidora this Saturday, March 18, 2017 (4:00 PM Pacific). Soccer is back in Mexico after week 10 was postponed and both teams will be looking for the three points for a playoff push.
Queretaro is currently in 9th place with 12 points, only out of a playoff spot due to goal differential. In week 9, the ‘gallos’ blancos’ suffered a huge 4-1 loss against Monterrey, Emanuel Villa scoring the lone goal for Jaime Lozano’s side. Before this tough loss, Queretaro was on a marvelous run, getting three straight victories and scoring 10 goals in this span.
Goals have come from all over the roster in this span, Jaime Lozano counting with eight different goalscorers. Emanuel Villa will be an interesting player to look out for in this game having scored in two consecutive matches, as well as Neri Cardozo who has five assists since Jaime Lozano has taken over as manager. The game is crucial for the ‘gallos’ in their playoff push now in week 11, where the points start to really count.
Pachuca is also having a nice tournament in second place with 17 points, just behind on goal differential to Chivas in first place. In week 9 of the competition, Pachuca had a huge 3-2 win over Club Tijuana away from home that really showcased how good the team is. Hirving Lozano was subbed out of that game early due to an injury that will leave him out for a month, but the team did well without the young star. 20-year-old, Roberto Alvarado did well in Lozano’s absence, scoring a goal.
Franco Jara also scored a goal and Jonathan Urretaviscaya really stepped up with a goal and an assist. Urretaviscaya has been a great player for Pachuca the whole tournament, having five assists and recently getting the call for the Uruguayan national team. The Uruguayan forward will need to step up in Lozano’s absence and should be an intriguing player to watch in the game. The match should be a very even duel, with both teams looking to add points for their respective playoff runs.
