The Copa Libertadores match between Independiente Santa Fe and Sporting Cristal will be held this Thursday, March 16, 2017 (5:45 PM Pacific) at the Estadio El Campin in Bogota. These teams form part of Group 2 which also has The Strongest and Santos.
Santa Fe suffered a surprising 0-2 loss in their first match against The Strongest in the always difficult Bolivian altitude. The team coached by Gustavo Costas will look to improve on that poor performance when they host Peru’s Sporting Cristal as anything other than a win will begin to jeopardize their chance of qualifying into the next round. The Colombian reigning champs are favored to win this game specially with the return of forward Denis Stracqualursi who was recently sidelined due to injury.
Sporting Cristal had a great home match during their first match against Brazil’s Santos as they were able to obtain a 1-1 draw. The team coached by Jose del Solar will now look to obtain another great result in the difficult El Campin. A win in Colombia will push the Peruvians in great position to continue pursuing qualification into the next round in a group in which they are not favored to pass.
