In the semifinals of the CONCACAF Champions League FC Dallas will host Pachuca at the Toyota Stadium this Wednesday, March 15, 2017 (5:00 PM Pacific). The match-up is the better of the two semi-final games and should present a hard-fought encounter.
The MLS season just recently started and FC Dallas is off to a decent start undefeated in the first two games with a win and a draw. The win was an impressive 2-1 win over the LA Galaxy away from home and the draw a 0-0 draw to Sporting KC also away from home. In the quarterfinals of the CONCACAF Champions League, Dallas faced Arabe Unido.
The American side defeated the Panamanian side by a global score of 5-2, getting a convincing 4-0 victory in the first leg of the fixture at the Toyota Stadium. 21-year-old, Kellyn Acosta, was a key figure in this match-up getting two goals in the first leg of the fixture. FC Dallas does have a strong side but does go into the game as underdogs, not as strong as the remaining Liga MX teams in the competition.
Pachuca is one of the two Liga MX teams left in the competition and is the favorite to make it to the final from this match-up. The ‘tuzos’ are doing fantastic in the Liga MX in second place with 17 points, only behind on goal differential to Chivas of Guadalajara in first place. At times Pachuca, has struggled to score in this Clausura, but in the last two games in all competitions, the ‘tuzos’ have scored seven games.
This would include putting four past Deportivo Saprissa in the quarterfinals of the CONCACAF Champions League. Franco Jara and Jonathan Urretaviscaya have been great in these two games, scoring two goals each. Pachuca unfortunately, will be without rising star, Hirving Lozano who is suffering from an ankle injury. Lozano did score against Saprissa in that big 4-0 victory and his absence could prove to be a big loss for Pachuca in this game. Even without Lozano, Diego Alonso’s men should be able to comfortably come out of this fixture on top.
