In week 29 of the French Ligue 1, Marseille will host Angers at the Orange Velodrome this Friday, March 10, 2017 (11:45 PM Pacific). Both teams have been solid this season among the top 10 best teams on the Ligue 1 table and should present an enticing duel.
Marseille has had a solid season in sixth place with 42 points, five points behind Olympique Lyon in fourth place with 47 points. The Olympians current form in the Ligue 1 is shaky, to say the least having won three and lost three in their last six matches. Rudi Garcia’s side is coming off a huge 4-1 win against Lorient, who is a troubling side fighting relegation this season.
Marseille is, of course, currently without captain, Befatimbi Gomis who is out due to injury and Rudi Garcia has been experimenting with who has been the team’s main forward in the past few weeks. 23-year-old, Clinton Njie had held that role for a while, but against Lorient, Garcia tried out Remy Cabella as the number nine in the lineup. It worked well as the team scored four goals, one by Cabella, who had not been in good form before the game. It will be interesting to see who Rudi Garcia goes with, in the match and how the team does with the forward the French manager decides to start in this game.
Angers is one of the most in-form teams in French football having won its last six matches in all competitions. Cameroonian striker, Karl Toko Ekambi has been one of the standout players in this run having scored three goals. This is very impressive for Toko Ekambi because before this run he had only scored two goals in 21 Ligue 1 games.
Cheikh N’Doye is also a crucial player for the western French team, controlling the midfield for Stephane Moulin throughout the season. Angers is one of the most intriguing teams currently in the Ligue 1 and should give a great match to Marseille at the Orange Velodrome this Friday.
