West Ham to reportedly challenge Arsenal for £30million-rated Premier League defender

The London Evening Standard have reported that West Ham United are interested in signing Middlesbrough defender Ben Gibson during the summer but will have to compete with Arsenal for his services.

Boro has had contrasting fortunate in terms of attacking and defending this season. They are the Premier League club with the lowest amount of goals this season, with just 19.

However Middlesbrough’s defensive record has been very good as they have conceded just 30 goals in 27 games and Gibson has been a key part of the defense.

The 24-year-old’s performances have been lauded so much so that he has been tipped for a call up by Gareth Southgate to the England national team.

The only teams that have conceded fewer goals than Boro are Manchester City, Chelsea, Tottenham and Manchester United. It has been reported that Middlesbrough will demand £30 million for Gibson. It is difficult to see the Hammers splashing amount that sum of cash.
