West Ham manager Slaven Bilic speaks about alleged interest in Chelsea man

West Ham United manager Slaven Bilic has denied that his club are looking to sign Asmir Begovic from Chelsea during the summer.

Despite the addition of the experienced Euro 2016 winner Jose Fonte in January, the defence continues to be an area where Bilic will have to improve for his side.

The Hammers were rumored to be looking to add another goalkeeper to challenge for the first choice position especially with Darren Randolph and Adrian failing to be convincing this season.

Adrian, who was impressive last season, started the season poorly and ended up losing the starting position to Randolph, who also failed to convince that he is a long term solution.

Reports had linked the Hammers with Begovic due to his proven quality as a goalkeeper and also because of his unhappiness at not receiving game time at Chelsea.

However Bilic has indicated that he is happy with his current goalkeepers for now, telling the London Evening Standard, “We have been linked with many players in the last three transfer windows, including Chelsea goalkeeper Asmir Begovic.

“In those three windows, though, I have said a few times that the only position in the team I have absolutely no interest in discussing is the goalkeeping spot. I was happy — and I am still happy — with Adrian and Darren Randolph.”
