For two brief periods of time, Liverpool Football Club had two of the world’s top strikers on their payroll. Unfortunately for all of us, the two never got to play together as Torres moved to Chelsea as Suarez arrived at Anfield.
But the question over which man was better for the Reds is a tough one that is often asked by fans of the Reds. And who better could answer that question than former Reds captain Steven Gerrard?
The heart and soul of Liverpool took the opportunity to tell BT Sport (via the Daily Star) that “both were deadly,” while also stating that “Suarez has more about his game.” He struggled, however, to fully answer the question.
This is a question I’ve thought about a lot. Torres was always fantastic, no doubt, but he’s the kind of guy that scored nearly all of his goals from inside of 12 yards or so. And that’s a rarity today, but it still makes him slightly below Suarez.
There’s no doubting the talent of Suarez, who moved from Liverpool to Barcelona, to do it all. He’s a hard worker, he can head, he can dribble, and he can score with both feet. Gerrard basically said that, but he just couldn’t throw either under the bus!
