West Ham legend delighted with impending major deal

Former West Ham forward Frank McAvennie is happy about the reports which have emerged suggesting manager Slaven Bilic will be offered a new deal.

Bilic’s current contract will expire at the end of the season, however it has emerged that the West Ham board are open to discussing a renewal.

McAvennie who played a role in helping the Hammers gain the highest ever league finish of third in 1986 told Press Association Sport, “Slaven is definitely the right man for the job. I am delighted he is getting a new contract. He is so enthusiastic.

“The fans down there love it because he is kicking balls and he is jumping about like a player. He has the club at heart and good luck to him.”

West Ham are performing modestly under Bilic and have shown signs of improvement since the departure of the controversial Dimitri Payet. At this stage, a contract extension for the manager seems likely.
