Januzaj says Sunderland can get a good result against Manchester City

Sunderland’s on loan winger Adnan Januzaj has insisted that his team cannot be written off ahead of their clash with Manchester City on Sunday. Based on current form, Pep Guardiola’s team will be firm favorites to claim three points at the Stadium of Light.

As a source of encouragement though, Sunderland do boast a decent record historically playing against the Citizens at home and Januzaj believes anything can happen in football.

He told the club’s official website, “Football is football and you never know what can happen. We have to keep fighting and we know the fans will help us at the Stadium of Light, so hopefully we can give them something this weekend.”

Januzaj also expressed his disappointment about his team not getting at least a draw against Everton last weekend.

He continued, “Everton are very strong defensively, but if we don’t concede goals it becomes easier to attack, but there wasn’t a lot of space and after the opening goal it was harder for us.

“In the second half we were much better and we were unlucky not to score when Jermain hit the crossbar, but that’s done now and we have to move forward and improve.”

The youngster is correct in that anything can happen in football, however if the Black Cats do wish to get something from their upcoming match against City, they will have to put in a similar performance to the one they displayed during their draw against Tottenham a month ago.
