Report: Rafael Benitez set to become world’s best paid manager

According to the Daily Mirror, Newcastle United boss Rafa Benitez could become the highest paid manager in world football as Chinese clubs attempt to lure him away from St James Park.

The report added that Benitez was left frustrated after not being granted sufficient funds to bolster his squad during the January transfer window and that this may lead him to leave.

Benitez has now ignited interest from Chinese clubs, who are apparently prepared to fork out £600,000 a week, for the services of the Spanish tactician.

Should the Newcastle boss leave, he will not be short of options, as he is also reportedly a possible replacement target for Arsene Wenger at Arsenal should the long serving Frenchmen leave the Gunners during the summer.

It is probably most likely that Benitez will continue to manage in England. The fact that he opted to remain with Newcastle even after they were relegated last season proves that he wants to have another opportunity managing in the Premier League.
