Garry Monk expresses his happiness with the Leeds’ players

Leeds United boss Gary Monk has claimed that his side deserved the three points during the Yorkshire derby against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.

For the Whites, the win also meant that they had completed their first double over their rivals in 20 years. The one and only goal of the game came from Chris Wood who bagged his 20th of the season.

“I was very happy today and I was very pleased for the players,” Monk told BBC Radio Leeds. “It was a typical derby game against a very good side and lots of things going on within the game.”

Leeds also have to thank veteran goalkeeper Rob Green for playing a crucial role in the win.

Though the visitors very rarely looked threatening in front of goal, they had a very good chance to equalize when they were handed a penalty. Green however, saved from Jordan Rhodes’s resulting spot kick.
