Koeman reveals that he was not happy with this Everton player’s performance

Everton manager Ronald Koeman has admitted that he was not happy with Idrissa Gueye’s performance against Middlesbrough and told him so.

Gueye’s disappointing performance came after he returned from international duty for Senegal during the Africa Cup of Nations and he has admitted that his below par performance was as a result of fatigue.

“I wasn’t happy with his performance against Middlesbrough and I spoke to Gana who said he was still a little bit tired from the African Cup,” Koeman revealed.

The Toffee’s boss has however been encouraged by the efforts shown by the defensive midfielder during the team’s recent Dubai training camp as well as during team training sessions.

He continued, “But what I saw from Gana last week and this week is that he is at the level we expect and what he saw from him at the beginning of the season. He’s back and that’s important for the team.”
