George Honeyman has claimed that Sunderland are more together after their US trip. The 22-year-old has said that despite the club struggling to avoid relegation this season, the mood on and off the pitch is jovial.
Manager David Moyes announced after the Black Cats 4-0 thrashing at the hands of Southampton that he had hoped that the trip would create more spirit within the team.
Honeyman who participated in the open training session which Sunderland held at the Stadium of Light on Monday said, “We had a good five days together, getting away from it. I think just a change of scenery makes a massive difference.
“Being with each other 24/7 has a big impact, we’ve come back and I’ve never known the dressing room so loud. I think it has had the perfect effect so far, from what I can tell.”
A break would have definitely helped the players to ease their minds, but it remains to be seen if their performances will undergo an improvement for the rest of the season.
