Everton defender Seamus Coleman has warned his team mates that they cannot afford to take Sunderland lightly during their Goodison Park showdown during the weekend.
The two teams will meet on Saturday with Everton being the firm favorites to win, however Coleman feels that the match will not be easy.
Despite a shambolic showing from the Black Cats this season, they have a reasonably good historical record of being competitive at Goodison Park. Though Sunderland lost the last time they visited Everton’s home ground, they had two wins prior to that.
Coleman told the Liverpool Echo, “We’re focused on Sunderland. We know they’ll be fighting for their lives, especially after the result they had last time out and we need to be ready for them.”
Everton will aim to claim all three points from this game especially as they are on good form while the Black cats are struggling. If they can thwart the threat of Jermain Defoe, they should pull off a win.
