France Football have reported that Arsenal and Tottenham sent scouts to watch young Toulouse defender Issa Diop playing on Sunday.
The 20-year-old played impressively for the full 90 minutes as his club claimed a creditable draw with heavyweights Paris Saint Germain. The defender has so far played 21 matches for his club this season.
In addition to providing stability in defence, Diop has also shown an ability to help score and create goal scoring opportunities. He has bagged two goals as well as been involved in the creation of many more for Toulouse.
Diop is a product of the Toulouse youth development system and represents France at under-21 level.
Though he enjoys a close relationship with his current club, higher wages as well as the opportunity to play alongside some of the world’s best players will surely appeal to him. Diop will likely leave if a good offer comes along.
