With speculation linking Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez with the Arsenal management role should Arsene Wenger leave, former Magpies forward Mickey Quinn believes that fans do not need to worry as Arsenal will opt for a youthful and energetic coach rather than Benitez.
With Wenger’s contract which is due to expire at the end of the season yet to be renewed, many have speculated that Benitez could be a replacement due to his experience.
Borussia Dortmund boss Thomas Tuchel and Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri have been other names linked with the position.
Quinn insisted that Newcastle fans need not worry, as Arsenal are not likely to approach Benitez, he said according to the Chronicle, “I saw the reports linking Rafa Benitez with Arsenal, and that’s the calibre of club he could attract interest from – that’s why Mike Ashley has to make sure he keeps the Spaniard happy after January’s poor window.
“But I think the Gunners will look for one of the younger generation of managers. Some fresh energy on the touchline. A coach in the Jurgen Klopp or Antonio Conte mould.”
