Sunderland star set to be fit for Everton clash

Sunderland have received a boost in their hopes of avoiding relegation this season after goalkeeper Jordan Pickford declared himself fit again after suffering a knee injury against Manchester United on Boxing day.

The 22-year-old has since made a recovery and is likely to be in the starting lineup for the Black Cats match against Everton in two weeks time.

During an interview with Sunderland’s official website, he said, “The knee is fine now. I’ve had a good six to eight weeks off but I’ve been working really hard in the gym and getting my knee right and its fine now. Hopefully, I’ll be ready for Everton.”

With only 19 points from their 25 games thus far, David Moyes side are in serious threat of relegation. Prior to his injury layoff, Pickford displayed impressive form for the Black Cats so much so that he was called up to the England national team.
