Celtic are facing competition from La Liga side Sevilla in their pursuit of Nigerian starlet Henry Onyekuru.
The 19-year-old, who plays for Belgian side Eupen, was a subject of Celtic’s interest in January and according to the Scottish Sun, the Hoops had a bid of £1 million rejected by the Belgian side.
Recent speculation has suggested that the player is keen to join Brendan Rodgers at the Celtic Park and the Hoops are expected to reignite their interest in him during the summer transfer window.
However, according to Spanish publication Estadio Deportivo, the Scottish champions will face competition from Sevilla in their pursuit in the summer.
Sevilla’s sporting director Monchi is reportedly a fan of the player and has identified him as a summer target. The report additionally claims that the Europa League specialist, who currently sit third in La Liga, are prepared to match Eupen’s valuation of their talent.
The 19-year-old has emerged as one of the top young prospects in Europe after scoring 11 goals in 24 league fixtures this season.
