Newcastle United finally facilitate the transfer of midfielder

Cheick Tiote has left Newcastle and completed a move to Chinese second division side Beijing Enterprises as confirmed by the Championship team.

Despite having notched 156 senior appearances for the Magpies since arriving from FC Twente for £3.5 million in August 2010, Tiote has struggled to earn first team football this season having only made three appearances in all competitions this season, two of those coming in the FA Cup.

During his seven years at Newcastle, the 30-year-old scored one goal, which was a stunner from a volley during Newcastle’s famous 4-4 draw with Arsenal in February 2011. Newcastle famously trailed Arsenal by 4-0 at half time but came back in the second half to record a famous draw in that game.

Tiote reached a stage of his career where he was definitely surplus to requirements and moving to China is a good decision for him seeing that it is likely to allow him to earn a good sum of money even though he is past his prime.
