Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce, a very experienced player and manager, has admitted that he was surprised to have seen so much coming and going in the now completed January transfer window.
Speaking to the Birmingham Mail, Bruce said he never thought “I’d be making seven changes,” before saying “it sort of fell into place.” Bruce then said that big decisions are “what I get paid for.”
Bruce is surprised just like many supporters of Villa and others clubs alike were. Some bigger names left the club, names that never truly fit into the club. But Villa also made some big signings of there own, and the hope is that they will now start to gel.
If they can gel, they can hopefully form the makings of a side that will reach Premier League status once again in within the next two seasons. It looks unlikely to do so now, but Bruce will be hoping that they are now completely past the days of underachieving that have been going on.
It may well have been a surprise to have done so much business, but it was absolutely necessary for Villa and should see them into much better days.
