West Ham United boss Slaven Bilic has said he would be delighted if in-form striker Andy Carroll received an England recall. The striker has been on fine form recently and netted four goals in his last four matches.
Due to injury problems and inconsistent form, Carroll has not been called up for England since October 2012. However his good form off late will definitely give him a good chance of being called up for England’s upcoming matches against Germany and Lithuania.
Seeing a major asset getting injured while playing is definitely heart-breaking for a manager and fans, and due to Carroll’s fitness problems, there is always a chance that he could pick up another setback. Playing for England could increase such a probability.
Bilic, however, has highlighted that he will not stand in the players way should he be called up.
He said, “It is always good for us and the player to win a cap because that is the biggest proof he is in a good form and especially when it is happening to mature players like Andy, he will take that only as another boost of confidence.”
