Former Everton manager Joe Royle has told Everton’s official website that the club’s striker Romelu Lukaku will only become more clinical in front of goal as he still has his “more mature years in front of him”.
He said, “Twenty five is certainly a realistic target. If he could get into the early 20s then that would be a great haul for him, and 25 would be absolutely fantastic!
“If Rom did that then that would give him a great chance of winning the golden boot. And you only have to look at his face every time he scores a goal to know what that would mean to him.”
“It’s remarkable to think he’s still only 23 years old and, with what you would say are his more mature years ahead of him, he’s only going to get better. We’ve got a real gem on our hands and we are lucky to have him in our team.”
Lukaku has been phenomenal for Everton since joining on an initial loan deal in the summer of 2013 from Chelsea and has thus far bagged 78 goals from 152 appearances. He also bagged four goals during Everton’s 4-0 thrashing of Bournemouth in Everton’s most recent match.
Everton look set for a bright future under Ronald Koeman with the likes of Mason Holgate, Tom Davies and Ademola Lookman all young players coming through the ranks as well.
Should Everton manage to keep the players for the future, they may be able to build a team that will challenge for trophies.
Koeman has certainly proven to be a good tactician thus far and his presence may attract the players into committing for the club.
