In an international club friendly, Los Angeles Galaxy will host Xolos of Tijuana this Tuesday, February 7, 2017 (8:00 PM Pacific) at the Stubhub Center in Carson. This game will mark the fourth time these teams face-off in a friendly, and sixth time overall. Historically, the teams have an even 2-1-2 record.
The LA Galaxy will play in their first preseason match to prepare for the 2017 MLS season when they host Liga MX side Xolos this Tuesday. The team newly coached by Curt Onalfo after Bruce Arena’s departure for the USMNT, will have a difficult match against Tijuana’s ‘B’ squad. Galaxy will test the form of its squad, yet they will not be able to count with Gyasi Zardes (injury) and new signings Joao Pedro and Romain Alessandrini.
It is questionable as to why Xolos would accept to play in this friendly game considering they are in the midst of their Clausura 2017 season. The team coached by Miguel ‘Piojo’ Herrera is currently in 1st place with 12 points after five games, and they will host Necaxa this Friday at the Estadio Celiente. Considering the border team will play an important match just days after the match against Galaxy, expect Tijuana to use players typically used in the Copa MX tournament. Some new faces which the coach will try-out are Argentines Matias Pisano and Jorge Ortiz who were recently presented into the club.
