West Ham United beat Southampton with the help of ‘inside information’

West Ham manager Slaven Bilic has admitted that Jose Fonte, who recently signed for the Hammers from Southampton gave them inside information on the club which helped them in their 3-1 win over the Saints on Saturday.

The Portugal international left his former club of seven years under bitter circumstances last month after handing in a transfer request.

Bilic started Fonte who joined from Southampton for £8 million just two weeks ago. He said, “It is good to find out some inside things and he helped us with that. It was very special for him and to come here and play so good, it makes it a little bit more special for him than the other guys.”

Southampton new signing Manolo Gabbiadini opened the scoring for the Saints however goals from Andy Caroll, Pedro Obiang and Mark Noble completed the win for West Ham.

While the information from Fonte would have definitely helped West Ham, it was overall their better play on the day which was the main factor.
