Sunderland manager David Moyes was delighted with his team’s 4-0 thrashing of fellow relegation threatened team Crystal Palace and admitted that it will give his team more “confidence” and “belief”.
Though the Black Cats are still in the relegation zone, the win saw them go equal on points with Palace and progress to within two points of safety. It also rounded off a good week for the club as they also claimed a point against high flying Tottenham Hotspur during midweek.
Moyes said, “We knew the task we would be up against today but we took our opportunities when they came along. Once we got the goal you could see that. It gets us three points and more confidence, more belief. It is going to be a tough job but if we had lost it would have been much tougher. Every game is must win.”
The Black Cats next match is against Southampton next Saturday. Considering that Southampton are currently not the most confident team at the moment and that Sunderland now are a team with a renewed sense of motivation, the Black Cats will go into the match fancying their chances.
