Return of El Wero Fierro (min 5:40)
One of Mexico’s most promising players of the 2011 U-17 World Cup championship squad Carlos ‘Guero’ Fierro has returned to Chivas, after spending one year on loan at Gallos Blancos, and is determined to win a spot in the Goats starting lineup. Fierro’s match winner against Venados de Merida in Copa MX put the player in the limelight and the Cantina barfly’s analyze the players chances of fufilling his potential.
Stars and Stripes (min 9:30)
Bruce Arena made his return to the United States national team’s hot seat with a scoreless draw against Serbia at San Diego’s Qualcomm stadium and Cantina regular Dan was there to cover the match. It was also Dan’s first ever game as a journo (popping his cherry) and he shares his experiences whilst the lads discuss whether or not the US can recover from a poor start of the Hexagonal and reach the 2018 Russia World Cup and will Landon Donovan be part of the turn around.
Of Goats and Saints (min 33:30)
Former Chiva boss Jose ‘Chepo’ de la Torre returns to Guadalajara at the helm of Santos leavng resident Rojiblanco Joely with a morale dilema as his gallo ‘Chep-Guardiola takes on fan favorite Almeyda. Also, can Chivas survive playing three games in one week (Merida/Boca/Santos) and Juwuan takes a swipe at Santos badge comparing it to a spare tire!
Bad Luck Vuce (min 47:50)
The Cantina makes a toast to Victor Manuel Vucetitch who despite being one of Liga MX’s most sucesfull coaches can’t seem to catch a break having been sacked from Queretaro despite having lead the club to their first ever championship just two months ago. The Cantina regulars also lament Vuce being sacked from the Mexican national team after only two games.

Pumas UNAM restructuring phase continues better than planned as the ‘Universitarios’ find themselves in 2nd place of the league table. Despite a modest budget the club’s trust in coach Juan Francisco Palencia as well as reinvigorating their once famed cantera system is begining to produce good results. This leads the Cantina regulars to delve into the topic of foreigners in the league and how it can affect emerging talent from making it to the first team.
The Unholy unibrow from Hell (2:15:15)
It’s tragos de amargo liquor time as the Cantina remembers Nery Castillo who was at one time one of Mexico’s most highly regarder players. The former Olympiakos striker’s goal against Brazil, at the 2007 Copa America, made Tricolor fans dream big unfortunately Castillo’s career took a turn for the worse.
