West Ham turned down an opportunity to sign former Juventus defender Martin Caceres, according to reports from the Daily Mirror.
Darren Lewis of Daily Mirror claims that the Hammers were offered an opportunity to sign the Uruguayan international on the last day of the January transfer window, but they deemed his wage demands too high.
The London side were among a number of clubs who were reportedly informed of Caceres’ availability.
The 29-year-old, who is a free agent following his departure from Juventus in summer, demanded £100,000-a-week wages from the Hammers. West Ham, who had been quite active this January, reportedly baulked at the wages and opted to walk out of the talks.
Caceres spent five seasons with Old Lady before departing in summer. Before joining the Italian giants, Caceres had spent time at the likes of Villarreal, Barcelona and Sevilla.
Another London side, Crystal Palace, have also been linked with a move for the Uruguayan.
