Report: Sunderland make a move for Premier League winner

Sunderland are interested in in luring unsettled Leicester City striker Leonardo Ulloa, according to the Chronicle. The Black Cats are believed to have made an offer of £3 million for the striker who wants to leave, however the bid was rejected.

Considering that Sunderland are a club currently low on funds, it is no surprise that they made a low offer which was subsequently rejected. With the sale of Patrick Van Aanholt to Crystal Palace impending for £14 million, Sunderland may however get the necessary finances to submit an improved bid for Ulloa.

Manager David Moyes has used some of the money to lure Darron Gibson and Bryan Oviedo replace Van Aanholt.

After Victor Anichebe suffered a knee ligament injury which ruled out for three months, Sunderland need an extra attacking option to provide support for the veteran Jermain Defoe upfront.

Ulloa has started only one Premier League match this season and handed in a transfer request earlier this month. An improved Sunderland offer will tempt the Foxes into selling.
