Reports from the Sun have suggested that Nottingham Forest are weighing up a move for Benfica’s Pele before the transfer deadline on Tuesday. The Championship club have acquired Benfica’s Joao Teixeira on loan and are keen to do business with Benfica again.
Benfica and Forest share a good relationship with the Portugal club having been a good supplier of players to Forest over the years. Caretaker boss Gary Brazil is reported to have seen Pele as a potential replacement for Henri Lansbury, who joined Aston Villa.
Pele has not featured for Benfica this season and does not look to be a part of the clubs long term plans. It is likely that a transfer could happen and Benfica will be willing to let him go on loan or permanently for the right price.
He could be a key player for Forest and they aim to remain in the Championship. This will be a good opportunity for Pele to establish himself as a player.
