Report: Newcastle and Palace in talks over sensational deal

Newcastle United and Crystal Palace are in talks over a swap deal for Andros Townsend and Chancel Mbemba, according to reports from Sky Sports.

Newcastle boss Rafael Benitez appears to be keen to re-sign former Newcastle player Townsend to boost his team’s chances of winning the Championship while Crystal Palace are reportedly not keen to do any business until the end of the season as they aim to avoid relegation.

However despite this, Newcastle have not given up hope of signing the player and have reportedly offered them Mbemba who has not featured for the club since October.

It is very hard to see Crystal Palace actually accepting this seal. They will need to utilize as many of their resources as they aim to avoid relegation and Townsend will certainly play a role in their dogfight.

Mbemba also would probably not do their chances any good, especially as he is likely not on the best of form due to his absence since October.
