Report: Everton beat Liverpool to the signing of Brazilian attacker

According to reports from the Daily Mirror (via the Daily Express), Everton will sign Caio Emerson, who is reportedly a target of Liverpool and Spanish giants Barcelona.

The 17-year-old is regarded as an up and coming striker from Brazil who is contracted to Serie A club Corinthians.  Should the Blues sign him, it is believed that they will have to pay a mere £250,000 over the next few days with his contract expiring during the summer.

Emerson impressed after finishing as top scorer for his side as they won the national under 17 league last season, which apparently led to Barcelona displaying interest in the player.

Though Barcelona is one of the best clubs in the world, a move to Goodison Park may prove to be more beneficial to Emerson’s career and confidence. It is unlikely that he would break into Barcelona’s first team soon with the likes of Neymar, Luis Suarez and Messi all on top of their game.

He can also take heart from Ademola Lookman and Tom Davies who are youngsters in the Everton first team.  This would be a good signing for Everton.
