Leeds United midfielder Alex Mowatt is reported to be joining Barnsley. The 21-year-old is wanted by the Tykes as a replacement for Conor Hourihane who departed for Aston Villa yesterday.
He has just six months left on his contract and has just six months left on his contract at Elland Road so now would be the perfect opportunity for Leeds to make some money off the sale of the player.
Jack Pitt-Booke of the Independent claims on Twitter that Mowatt will join Barnsley and that the deal is close to completion.
Mowatt was a product of the Leeds United youth development system and has accumulated more than 120 appearances for the Yorkshire club. Monk’s side currently lie third in the Championship and are chasing promotion to the Premier League.
Barnsley also have an opportunity to make the promotion playoffs as they lie in eight position. They will certainly hope that Mowatt can assist them.
